Policies & Procedures
Arrival To Massage

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time.

Not only does this allow time for filling out necessary forms, but it also provides a more relaxing experience.

In the event of a late arrive, service may be shortened out of respect for the overall schedule.
Cancellation Policy & Fees

Please respect the office scheduling policies. If a cancellation or reschedule is necessary, notify the office at least 24 hours in advance.

Any cancellations with less than 24 hours of notice are subject to a $50 cancellation fee. Clients who miss their appointments without giving any prior notification will be charged in full for the scheduled service.

All services require a credit card or gift certificate to schedule an appointment. Client will not be billed unless there is a cancellation or no show. Upon checkout, client may choose method of payment.
Late Arrival & No Show Policy

All appointments have a specific time block to fit into the overall schedule. Therefore, late arrivals may not receive extension of scheduled appointments. In special cases, and if possible, accommodations may be made for partial or full appointments. This will be at our discretion and only with proper, advanced notification of the clients late arrival. The original reservation fee will be charged.

Life is busy and unexpected events occur. At True North Wellness we understand that unpredicted incidents happen in everyone’s life. Please call if you cannot keep your appointment. Clients who miss appointments without giving any prior notification may be charged in full.
Informed Consent

Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed the client. At the first visit the client will be asked to sign the treatment consent form stating that he/she has read the information, understands it, and agrees to comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures.

Clients who have not been seen for at least a year may also be asked to fill out this form.
Scope of Practice

True North Wellness therapists are licensed professionals and held to the highest standards of the American Massage Therapy Association.

Licensed Massage Therapists do not diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions but may refer you to a medical doctor for diagnosis or treatment. Our services are not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions. Please refer to a medical doctor for any specific condition which requires medical treatment.
Respect for Client Needs & Boundaries

Our Massage Therapists are happy to adjust pressure, temperature, musical volume, work longer on an area or move on upon request.

The client may choose to: leave on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage methods, and/or stop massage at any time.

The client will always be modestly draped. Only the area being massaged will be undraped. The clients will be kept informed of the area to be massaged.

Sexual interaction or discussion of any kind between the client and the massage therapist is NEVER appropriate.

Requests for sexual activity will not be tolerated, will be viewed as solicitation, and reported to the proper authorities under the guidelines of the massage therapy policies and procedures. The client will not be rescheduled if this occurs.

True North Wellness does not massage anyone under the age of 18 unless the parent or guardian is in the room and signs the appropriate forms.
Confidentiality & Conversation

All client visits and conditions are confidential.

You are an active participant in your treatment. Therefore, you may choose to talk or not talk during the massage.

Therapists are happy to listen to your conversation and share their professional expertise. However, it is preferred to not discuss topics of a political, private or sexual nature.
Existing & New Medical Conditions

It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc., that the massage may be continued.

The client must inform the massage therapist of any changes in health or medical conditions.

For clients undergoing chemo and radiation therapies – Please note that we require a doctor’s note that states the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired treatment.
